The Dior Saddle Bag

Hello my loves

In today’s post I want to talk about one of my most recent additions – the Dior Saddle Bag. The article will cover how I managed to get one of these highly demanded bag (especially in the look I like) and what my opinion about the saddle is.

So lets start by how I managed to lay my hands on one of these highly wanted bags: I actually went to the local Dior stores in September, asking whether they had one available. The employee told me that they didn’t but would be happy to take me onto the waiting list, so I gave them my contact details. Ok, so little side-note here, I am not one of the biggest Dior clients and as I have lived many years abroad, the local boutique doesn’t really know me. As it is with many others, you need to have the right contacts in order to get what you want!

So fast forward, over three months later I still hadn’t heard anything from Dior so I tried to secure a Saddle in London since I was travelling there for a few days and again, all the boutiques were sold out (or probably only had a couple of bags for their V.I.P. customers in stock to which I clearly don’t belong). I tried at the Dior boutique in Harrods, their main boutique on New Bond Street and the Dior boutique on Sloane Street by calling them up prior to my trip (like two weeks before so that if they would get a shipment, they cut put a bag aside for me). Anyhow, none of it worked so I simply thought, ok it is not meant to be – until I talked to my sister about my issue. My sister is an absolute handbag aficionado and if you think I have a bag addiction, well then you haven’t met my beautiful sister.

She told me I should ask one of her best friends for a contact at the Dior Boutique in Zurich as he is a well-esteemed customer – which I did – and managed to get the number of one of the absolute high ranked Dior Managers. I talked to my new contact and she was so sorry that I have been waiting for so long. Honestly, I think my waiting list position just kinda got “forgotten” or maybe “ignored” since the sales people had no clue who I was and certainly provided the bag to other, more known customers. It was fine for me since I wasn’t rushing it, after all it is quite an investment and I knew my time would come which it did.

My new contact didn’t even take 3 days to organise me the first saddle bag I could look at. It was the green oblique model with the strap (you have to purchase the strap separately) and it was very beautiful when I tried it on. Yet, I felt like it wasn’t as “fresh” in terms of the colouring and since I was already waiting for the Blue oblique bag, I decided to turn the green bag down. What difference does it make to wait another couple of weeks since 3 months had passed anyways, right?!

The message came very unexpected – one week later! Dior had received a shipment with ONE blue oblique Saddle Bag in the big size – YAAAAAY! My contact had kept it aside so I could pick it up the same day. It had to happen that exact day since others were in line, eagerly wanting to put their hands on my baby lol. So I went to pick it up and I can tell you it was perfect! I told my contact to let me know when the matching strap would arrive since it gives the bag a very nice touch, almost a bit western because of the stitching and most of you know already that I love to wear cross-body bags (CHANEL preferably).

It took another 2 months until the strap arrived – the waiting list was insane and I had the privilege to be taken care of through my contact in Zurich. It is the world of fashion, it is a place where wanted items can mostly only be purchased through the right connections or by simply being lucky but I must say, the service was excellent once I had my foot in the door. I was warmly welcomed and really appreciate all the “hunting” that was done in order to organise me the bag I’ve been wanting for so long with the marching strap.

Now that I have had the chance to wear it on several occasions, my verdict is absolutely positive. I would say this was my best bag investment in a very long time because I adore this bag. The large size which I have is very nice. The smaller Dior Saddle would be too small in my opinion since it wound’t fit many contents. I was wearing my bag out and got a lot of compliments. I remember when I went to a beauty event and I was wearing my saddle out – all the girls wanted to look at it, touch and feel it. It is a statement piece – a Dior Icon!

I have posted a couple of pictures for you to appreciate the details of this bag but also the variety it brings. Certainly, I will post some more pictures of it so you have a better idea on how it can be styled.

Also, if you are considering buying a Saddle Bag by Dior and have questions, feel free to send me an email or a DM on my Instagram (@queen_isabelle8) profile.

Lots of love
